"Teenager" is the advance single of "Underachievers please try harder", the long-awaited second album of Scottish band CAMERA OBSCURA. This CD-Single features "Teenager" as the main track plus two exclusive songs: "I don‚t want to see you" and "Footloose and fancy free", which will only appear in this single.
CAMERA OBSCURA started to get some attention with their single "Eighties fan". It splendidly defined the sound features of the band: delightful female vocals close to the warmth of Tracey Thorn (EVERYTHING BUT THE GIRL), Astrud Gilberto or Harriet Wheeler (SUNDAYS); with a personality as strong as Dusty Springfield, Nancy Sinatra or Bobbie Gentry; acoustic guitars and relaxed moods; an impressive string arrangement and an unforgettable melody. To top it all, the production was signed by Stuart Murdoch, notorious Glasgow neighbour and leader of the essential BELLE AND SEBASTIAN. "Eighties fan" was single of the week in Uk magazine "Record Collector", and it was heavy airplayed by the likes of John Peel and Steve Lamacq.
Shortly after came the debut album: "Biggest Bluest Hi-Fi", featuring a superb collection of acoustic pop songs, simple but very moving and beautiful; Stuart Murdoch collaborates again with the string arrangements, subtle but really majestic. Elefant‚s version of the album is enhanced by two excellent extra tracks ("Shine like a new pin" and "Let‚s go bowling") which originally appeared in the CD-Single "Eighties fan". This release meant an excellent introduction of CAMERA OBSCURA to Spanish audiences.
The end of the summer will bring "Underachievers please try harder" LP/CD, the band‚s second album; an exqusite catalogue that comprises the keys of the best pop, something that Elefant is really proud to release worldwide.
The new album has also been recorded in the prestigious Cava Studios in Glasgow, engineered by Geoff Allan, who has also worked with other famous Scottish bands such as MOGWAI or TEENAGE FANCLUB.
CAMERA OBSCURA will exclusively premiere the songs in its second album "Underachievers please try harder" for the audience of next FIB/Benicassim Festival.
