“The Sexual Revolution” left us with unforgettable moments, a never-before dreamed of happiness, and an endless feeling of pleasure. The concerts were authentic exaltations of uncontrolled happiness, collective madness and a truly therapeutic release. LA CASA AZUL's newest work is a gift for fans, a small souvenir that closes a magical era that let us discover the best kept secrets of one of the most talented and exciting people in the recent history of pop music.
Guille's fans and admirers have been growing like wild since his first disc came out in 2001, and they've been multiplying by the minute, from Japan to the United States, from Mexico to Italy, from Korea to Sweden… All united by their unbiased love of music full of colors and shades that could sum up the history of the most exciting pop of the last 60 years in just 4 minutes. From the girl groups of the 50s to disco from the 70s, from 60s Sunshine Pop to the most brilliant and vanguard techno-pop straight from Tokyo's exciting Shibuya. It is a mosaic of pop feelings that made us love life more than ever, leaving behind our fears, sadness, the daily monotony and the cruel reality that the world we live in is full of.
LA CASA AZUL's new journey is still full of fantasy - a fantasy that begins in their new video, “La Nueva Yma Sumac”, an incredible piece by the great master Duprez (responsible also for the album design) and a team made up of true fans of the group who knew howto perfectly represent the colorful and fantastic universe of LA CASA AZUL. An authentic work of goldsmithing by a team that has spent many hours in front of a computer in order to be able to give life to our new superhero in his latest adventure. It is an ambitious project that makes this video unique and unprecedented in the history of music videos and animation in our country, and that will undoubtedly be talked about outside of our borders as well. We will all be grateful to them for the rest of our lives.
Some of the people Guille Milkyway admires most, in the world of current independent music, have unconditionally given themselves to “La Revolucion Sexual” and collaborated on this disc, making it the most international project yet by LA CASA AZUL, creating a world without musical borders, united exclusively by the contagious melodies of our superhero, which are sung in English, Korean, German, Spanish, or whatever the moment calls for, it doesn't matter, the fun and happiness are guaranteed.
STEREO TOTAL have made it clear with their version “C'est Fine” that they like, a lot, LA CASA AZUL. Françoise sings in German on a new version of “La Revolución Sexual” that Guille rerecorded almost completely to fit the sound to the disco-punk universe of our German superheroes. Guille himself was in charge of the vocals on the English version and the exquisite Yeongene (a pop icon in Korea with fans half the world over) does her thing on the version in Korean; a version that, of course, was released months ago as a bonus track on the Korean release of “La Revolución Sexual”.
Guille and Duglas T Steward (BMX BANDITS) share a special appreciation for Chris Montez, especially for the era in which Chris recorded with A&M, and “Bad Boys”, the English version of “Chicos Malos”, is a heart-felt homage that Guille pays one of the sweetest and prettiest voices in the history of music. It is a delicious duo with Duglas that gives us the disc's gentlest moment.
Guille was in Tokyo at the same time as THE APRILS in 2005, in those Elefant festivals that took NIZA, DJ Polar and LA CASA AZUL to the country of the rising sun. THE APRILS took part in one of the Elefant parties and from that moment a frienship and mutual admiration has developed between the two groups which has now given way, years later, to this Remix of “La Nueva Yma Sumac”; sung in Japanese by Imai himself, leader of THE APRILS and a total superstar in Japan.
HELEN LOVE is another one of those important groups in LA CASA AZUL's universe, and Guille, inspired by their single “Jump Up & Down”, has made an authentic dance hit that is not lacking in small homages and references to Plastic Bertran, 50's rock and roll and of course surf, one of their great passions.
Guille is, above all else, a true music lover, a pop music consumer with an astonishing musical culture and exquisite taste. In the last few years, in his live shows, he has showed this to us clearly with his versions of some of his favorite songs, which is also why it was important to include a significant display of what his live shows are on this disc that is so special for fans. On the one hand, it was important to rescue some of those versions that he did live in order to record them in the studio and on the other hand, to keep the magic of some of the live performances, which is how the disc closes - with four songs extracted from one of his last concerts in Barcelona, where more than 20,000 fans enjoyed a truly unforgettable night.
The versions range from the powerful “Señora” by Joan Manuel Serrat to the JACKSON FIVE's “I Want You Back” (which is, unfortunately, a more than opportune homage to the recent death of Michael Jackson), including “Love Is in The Air” by John Paul John which has become a classic in his concerts and an authentic declaration of love, and as Guille himself has said on several occasions before tackling the song, “Love is the most important thing in the world”.
It is a very special disc, a limited edition, a disc for the fans, for friends, for the lovers of pop… A sonic postcard from what these last few months in the life of LA CASA AZUL have been, a small appetizer while we wait for the arrival of the the group's new album; an album that Guille is already working on and that will be out in 2010. So while those new songs are in the works, this disc will get us through the rest of this year and make the wait shorter for LA CASA AZUL's newest album - though there are still more surprises on the way!!!
The disc contains a data track with the video for “La Nueva Yma Sumac” in the Spanish version and the Japanese version, as well as a screensaver for your computer and for your mobile phone.
