Single success in Paris
A little time ago we announced from East to West, full of euphoria and illusion, that SINGLE would throw themselves fully onto the stages to present their excellent songs live. Their shows have amazed us all: the mise-en-scène is elegant, original, well cared for and completely apart from what we're used to experience in venues; something unique and really special. Everyone who has been to any of the band's live shows knows what we're talking about. The next step in SINGLE's career was their premiere in Paris, nowhere else than in the New Casino, in a night held by the Magic magazine (the coolest music magazine in France, that had SINGLE on their front page), sharing the stage with Valérie Leulliot (singer in AUTOUR DE LUCIE, who opened for them and presented her new songs backed by an acoustic trio) and with illustrious guest DJ Bertrand Burgalat (musician, producer and visible head of the Tricatel label) at the decks. The result, in a country where SINGLE are even more popular and admired than in their own land, was most moving. The French audience surrendered themselves to the band’s charms; SINGLE proved their mastery and elegance onstage and left a delicious taste for the exquisite and demanding Parisian palates. The proof is in the pudding:
Christophe Basterra (director of the Magic magazine):
"Yes, last Sunday May 18th there was, amongst the audience that had come to the New Casino, a lot of curiosity and longing to see SINGLE, as SINGLE is a cult name in the French capital.
Teresa Iturrioz and Ibon Errazkin, authors in 2007 (in France) of “Pío Pío” (an album impossible not to fall in love with if one is lucky to listen to it), were members of LE MANS, a band that had a number of faithful followers who never got to see them on a French stage. In their live incarnation, they were wisely surrounded by Tito Pintado (male vocals and dance steps – that moved the audience to nickname him Bez ibère) and Joan Vich (with an unbeatable indolence behind the keyboards and impressive at throwing sequenced rhythms), and they didn’t do the typical live show. During their performance, Teresa changed dresses with a model’s aplomb, above all showing a brilliant confidence at the microphone, performing those exotically elegant melodies with a sensual voice and a deep smile on her face. At her left, Ibon, fuchsia shirt and conscientious gestures, playing guitar with his imperial style and building melodies with an overwhelming imagination that obviously shows up in the band’s clever and varied repertoire. There are reggae trips (“Honey”, or their cover of TERRY IV’s “Cabeza cuadrada”), pop ballads with a sixties origin ("Mi primer viaje", "Llévame a dormir"), fragile and smart electronic experiments (“Tu perrito librepensador”, the perfect version of “El amor en fuga”). Teresa is brave enough to introduce the songs in Molière’s language, to the audience’s joy, who watches her, slowly letting themselves go with a sweet euphoria, moved by the band’s contagious and intense music. SINGLE are perfect to give this Parisian soirée an air of party, SINGLE won their bets: turning a show into a place where all the musical ghosts are allowed.”
Next show with SINGLE at Benicassim Festival – July 17th.
