Elefant is celebrating the birth of ELEFANT RECORDS MEXICO!!!!

A new adventure is beginning that fills us, at Elefant Records, with joy and excitement. It was a subject we were waiting to take on and, finally, after a long time of thinking every detail over and finding a team of incredible people, we can finally announce the birth of Elefant Records Mexico with all the hype it deserves. With the same spirit as ever, with the same, if not more, excitement and with a ton of plans and projects that we hope will satisfy all the fans of pop music in Mexico. In time we also hope to offer releases from outside of our catalog with the idea of turning Elefant Records Mexico into a point of reference for international independent music. We are aware of the extremely important moment in history that Mexico is going through at the moment, a tremendous cultural explosion across the entire country of groups, artists, creators… And a ton of people anxious to get involved in it and live the moment to its fullest, enjoying the euphoria of what’s been going on there for the last couple years as much as possible. Elefant wants to be a part of all that and to contribute with our albums, parties, group tours… We are aware of the great number of fans and followers Elefant has in Mexico and we have been waiting for this moment to arrive for years. Elefant Records, in these 20 years of existence, has reached almost every place on the planet, but in the Latin American countries it has always been really difficult for independent labels to make a space from which they can offer the fans the opportunity to have the albums and above all to see their favorite artists live. In 2002 the label Suave, run by Camilo Lara (Instituto Mexicano del Sonido and director of Emi México) released the compilation album Elefant 2002; this disc quickly became the shotgun start for the label and it started a pachyderm fever, a fever that has grown more and more every year and thanks to the internet has reached such a point that Mexico is now one of the biggest and most loyal followers of Elefant Records. We feel loved, as a label, as people, and above all we know that the Mexican fans adore our groups, all of which makes us so happy to be able to begin this new project that we hope will continue for a long time to come. In these last few years many of Elefant’s albums have been released in Mexico on different independent labels and we want to thank all of those labels and all of those people who have helped and supported us in these year, since it is also thanks to them that it is possible to have Elefant Records Mexico today. Thank you everyone, thanks to the Elefant team in Mexico (Jorge “El Negro”, Juan Vázquez, Luli Serrano, Gabriel Gómez and Jorge Pedro Uribe) and of course thanks to all of the label’s fans.

We are writing this just a few short hours before leaving for Mexico City, our first trip to Mexico, and we are so excited to get to know the country and meet the fans and enjoy the presentation parties and concerts we have organized for these coming days. Julieta Venegas has invited LA BIEN QUERIDA to play with her in two very special concerts in Mexico City and Monterrey, in Mexico City’s Metropolitan theater and Monterrey’s Luis Elizondo auditorium, and LA BIEN QUERIDA will be playing at the Elefant Records presentation party in the Imperial Club, one of the coolest clubs in the city, and another label presentation party in the Centro Cultural de España in Mexico City.

Elefant Records Mexico’s first release is the acclaimed debut album by LA BIEN QUERIDA that will also include the two remixes of 9.6 by LA CASA AZUL’s Guille Milkyway and HIDROGENESSE as bonus tracks, and the second release, for June, will be THE SCHOOL’s “Loveless Unbeliever”, plus we are already preparing a special LA CASA AZUL compilation album as well as an extensive Elefant compilation.

There is a Twitter and a Facebook for Elefant Records México, the web will be ready soon and many more things so that all the fans of the label in Mexico can be informed and up to date on all the things we’re organizing.

And of course, this is just the start! We’ll tell you more things as they develop!!
