Another advance single from their imminent new album “4ever”. And look out, because “Himawari” is one of those fascinating shifts from AXOLOTES, since this new song has some of the Shibuya-kei sound from the early 2000s, touches of rumba, echoes of anime intro and a luminous and catchy melody.

Once again, they give us those incredible trademark punk hits, more powerful than ever, with the best choruses they’ve written to date, like “La canción que escribiste”, “S ! M P”, “Amarre”, “Al amanecer” and “ROSAS y ESPINAS” (with AIKO EL GRUPO!, what an electric collaboration), where we can hear the incredible production work of Juan Pedrayes himself, with mixing by Bernardo Calvo (who recorded CAROLINA DURANTE’s EPs), Felipe Quintans (LAS LIGAS MENORES, BESTIA BEBÉ… And winner of a Latin Grammy for EL MATÓ A UN POLICÍA MOTORIZADO’s “Unas Vacaciones Raras”) and Dani Alcover (DOVER, NIÑA POLACA, LA LA LOVE YOU). What a combination; so powerful.

AXOLOTES MEXICANOS "Qué Me Beses !!!" Single Digital

It keeps the punk spirit, the boldness, the energy, the lack of prejudice, and that special kind of romanticism of Olaya's lyrics remain: “Quiero decirte algo / Para que tú me beses / ¡Que me beses, coño!” (I want to tell you something / So that you kiss me / Kiss me, damn it!), but here the band fully dives into digicore, letting itself be flooded by those Japanese influences that had already appeared many times before (“Himawari”, “Vergüenza” or the cover of “Renai Circulation” among many others). And to top it off, the sound of Juan Pedrayes joins that of DETUNEDFREQ in the production. The producer behind some of the most energetic electronic pop tracks inrecent years (MARÍA ESCARMIENTO, RAKKY RIPPER, “Tofu Delivery” by ORSLOK and ROJUU, Fran Laoren, ALEQUI, HOLOGRAMMA...) leaves his mark to supercharge a track overflowing with electricity and pogo energy in every bpms.

And to confirm the above, the single is accompanied by a video clip by Eva Robles (@graphictunnels), a visual artist for groups such as MALA GESTIÓN and NIÑOS RAROS, who dives into the aesthetics of SEGA and Nintendo Gameboy to draw, from every pixel of this video, which looks straight out of an anime, all the essence of 1990s Japan. A delightful clip, an amazing song mastered by Bernardo Calvo (JUVENTUD JUCHÉ, LA ESTRELLA DE DAVID, MARCELO CRIMINAL or CAROLINA DURANTE), full of excitement and many questions about what this new stage will bring. But let's not forget the kisses and great songs, damn it.
