The Silver Factory

BRINGING BACK WHAT ONCE WAS: THE SILVER FACTORY
The Silver Factory have released a mini LP on Elefant Records called “If Words Could Kill”. Marc Johnston, Matt Vinall, Fran Feely, Luke Headland and Paul Hobbs are located in Leicester, England. Even though it goes to say you don’t need to live in the same place where your influences once raged around in a time that was unforgettable; but Silver Factory have put a unique, playful but set assured talented musician spin on The Velvet Underground meets The Stone Roses with a personality of lyrical reminisce towards The Jesus and Mary Chain.
When I asked Fran Feely about how the name came about he had this to say: “I love Pop art and The Velvet Underground and Andy Warhol’s studio in New York was The Factory. It was known in the inner circle as The Silver Factory due to all the walls covered in silver foil. I thought that would be a good name for a band. I also love the word ‘factory’ and always find beauty in old factories. Really love all the Lowry paintings depicting that moment of working class life in England.”
And rightly so, this is actually The Silver Factory’s second release with Elefant, if this is only the mini LP then the full length album will be sure to complete the process of an even more Andy Warhol character-based feel. You have The Velvet Underground but also the atmosphere that was never censored or denied of its perpetual honesty. From “I Am the Sign” and “Flowers on the Scene”, you register the understanding to the ending of what had happened, or the thought of life. The harmonious structure to each song almost sends chills down your spine, pointing out just how in tune this band is with one another. Just what I love the most is a definite hint of yesteryear and what use to be, and especially taking into account that today music of this extent can still be mastered, it can still be made with its own original vigil of spiritual belonging.
