"Romancero" is released in usa

Spanish Indie Pop Singer La Bien Querida Arrives Stateside
by Grace Bastidas

Latina magazine introduces you to “"The Best Latin Music You Don’t Know" in the June/July issue of the magazine. Many of these up-and-comers are signed to Nacional Records, a label that is constantly giving us something to listen to. I'm especially digging one of their latest revelations, indie pop singer La Bien Querida, who is already well-known in her native Spain.

La Bien Querida is the stage name of Madrid-born Ana Fernández-Villaverde who designs murals of classic Italian palaces in between writing songs. "For me, there is certainly a connection between music and painting," she has said. "A canvas and a song are theme-based with composition, harmony and tonality." Her debut album, Romancero, is a work of art onto itself, fusing flamenco, Arabic sounds, Mexican rancheras, techno and a good dose of romance.

Check out the video for "Corpus Christi," a delicate song that talks about feeling skeptical about most things except love. Directed by Nadia Mata Portillo, the clip was filmed in an abandoned psychiatric hospital, known as “La Barranca,” outside of Madrid. The place is said to be haunted by the ghosts of suicide victims. Pretty creepy, right? Well, you wouldn't know it by the video so dont expect to see any paranormal activity à la Ghost Hunters:
