The Buzz - Hear 19 New Bands From NME (Plus One From Honeyblood)
If you've read Courtney Barnett's tip columns for Radar you'll already know she's better at being an A&R scout than most actual A&R scouts. Fraser A. Gorman (above) is a fine case in point. He's been part of Courtney's crew for a while now, releasing bits and bobs on her Milk! Records label and appearing in her videos. Now he's getting a proper push outside of Australia, with a debut album due here in the UK early next year. The first signs - aka 'Book Of Love', and new track 'Darkness Is Coming On (Demo)' on the playlist below - are very good indeed.
Also in this week's buzz playlist are Glasgow's Poor Things, who've been tipped to us by Stina from Honeyblood, and there's also a personal favourite of mine, Psychic Soviets. They're from Glasgow too, with hints of Fat White Family and those early Franz Ferdinand b-sides like 'Van Tango' about them. The latest of many promising new bands to come from there, it seems...
As always, pick up the magazine to read more about every act listed below.
