Shindig! Happening! [En]: Review about "Eat Tacos" Single 7"
WILD BALBINA
Eat Tacos EP Elefant 7” EP
It’s blue vinyl this time around for the limited edition four-track debut EP from this Spanish pop trio – two woman guitarists fronting a male drummer. It’s a lo-fi affair (the girls’ echoey vocals are barely audible), but there’s energy galore on the title track, from the Ramonesy guitar slashes to the soaring, roller coaster vocals. ‘So Kind’ is another DIY, garage toetapper – this is the kind of stuff we pogoed the night away to 35 years ago. I also like the girl group grooviness of closer, ‘Surfin’. Rudimentary melodies aside, this is inspirational stuff for budding musicians out there looking to form a group. Wild Balbina make it seem so easy – just grab a few guitars, find a studio, and lay down some juicy tunes. There’s nothing new or earth shattering here – just catchy tunes played with reckless abandon and a lot of fun. I can’t wait to hear what they sound like in a proper studio.
