"Is he really coming home?" video-clip review

Video Jam of the Day: The School – Is He Really Coming Home?
March 25th, Tim Sendra

One of my favorite pop bands of the last couple years is the School. Hailing from Wales, the group does a wonderful job of mashing together the best pop music from the last 40 years and comes up with something very fresh and sweet. In the mix you can hear the melancholy drama of the girl group sound, the classic song structures of the Brill Building songwriters, the chirpy cuteness of bands like Talulah Gosh and Dolly Mixture, the bounce of Motown, the snap of 2000’s Swedish indie pop, and in Liz Hunt’s vocals you can hear the plaintive charm of every wonderful girl singer from Helen Shapiro to Pam Berry. They’ve released some excellent singles so far and their first full album Loveless Unbelievers is coming out any day now on Elefant Records. Here’s their latest video for the song “Is He Really Coming Home?”
