Elefant in Barcelona's Joan Miro Foundation

Joan Miró Foundation premiered last February 27, on its Espai 13, the third stage of Psychodrome series, with works by Fred Tomaselli, Beatriz Barral and Tor-Magnus Lundeby, all of them young creators going through an interesting stage in their careers, consolidated in their countries and frequent exhibitors at important art centres.

Norwegian artist Tor-Magnus dedicates exclusively to Elefant Records his work Radio Loony FM 108, 1 MHz: Elefant Season.

The installation Radio Loony FM 108,1 MHz simullates an imaginary radio station formed by 365 +1 broadcasting stations, with the shape of space bees. Each of the stations has printed the name of a music group on it; it sizes 7 inches wide and has a hole in its center, emulating vinyl singles; 135 of the names belong to bands that has released vinyl singles in Elefant Records. The artist wants to pay homage to the record companies that keep on releasing vinyl singles, sharing with them their passion for this format. There’s also room for other artists that have released singles in labels such as Tummy Touch, Telle, Bungalow, Wall of Sound, Duophonic super 45...

This work has been recently shown in Oslo’s Wang and Glasgow’s Tramway galleries.

On the occasion of coming to Spain to take part in Barcelona’s Joan Miro Foundation’s Psychodrome 03 series, Tor-Magnus has adapted his original work. The installation will now have the name Radio Loony FM 108, 1 MHz: Elefant Season. Only the 135 stations carrying the names of our bands will be active; the rest of the stations will appear nameless, as if they were turned off, simullating the bees are asleep.

Tor-Magnus had previously used names of some of our bands in his works: in the installation Bungalow Wall of More or Less Fame (2001) shown in the Kiasma Museum of Contemporary Art (Helsinki, Finland) the name of LE MANS appeared among other band names such as STEREOLAB, HIGH LLAMAS, KOMEDA ...
