The School
There may not be any tales of mangled motorcycles but there are plenty of crushed hearts on the debut album from The School. Spawned from a clear love of 60s girl groups, and the bitter sweet tunes of the Shangri Las in particular, Loveless Unbeliever is the 60s equivalent of a mini Babybel; a little cheesy but cute and bite sized.
We’ve waited a long time for this thirteen tracker, so long in fact that the first two releases - a single and an EP - have become quite hard to track down so the band have represented all their excellent six tracks again. While this gives a certain familiarity to old fans, it also ensures the quality is high. All that’s missing is recent effort And Suddenly and perhaps less surprisingly a Christmas song but Let It Slip and I Want You Back are classics any time of the year. If you fancy the idea of Camera Obscura blowing bubblegum then chew on this little Welsh indiepop wonder.
