“SONG FOR EWE” is the feature where artists & music people beloved by VELVET SHEEP choose an obscure song they’ve been listening to that day. Today’s guest is from a band called Linda Guilala from Galicia in Spain who I got put onto when David Gedge of The Wedding Present chose them as part of his Lucky 7 for Velvet Sheep last year. Gedge-y called them a lovely noise and said “They may owe a debt to My Bloody Valentine but there’s nothing wrong with that in my book!” Mine neither, and not only are they on the excellent Elefant Records they are lovely people, so welcome to Velvet Sheep, former Juniper Moon member and now guitarist, bassist, keyboardist and vocalist of Linda Guilala, Eva Maria Lopez Castro!

I loved this song since the first time I heard it. Though I didn’t understand any word of the lyrics I was fascinated by the vocals melody.

And the music, the simplicity and complexity at the same time, repeating the same progression of chords but with all the arranges in crescendo, it makes me want to listen to it over and over again… It’s brilliant!
