Biography

THE LADYBUG TRANSISTOR is a sextet from Brooklyn (New York) formed by Gary Olson (lead vocals and trumpet), Jeffrey Baron (guitar, bass and backing vocals), Jennifer Baron (bass, guitar and backing vocals), Sasha Bell (flute, piano, organ, backing vocals), San Fadyl (drums and percussion) and Julia Rydholm (violin). As you can infer from its line-up, LADYBUG TRANSISTOR pretend to go beyond the classic pop rock formation. They are a tiny pop orchestra.

Merge Records, home of such prestigious bands as SUPERCHUNK or LAMBCHOP has released them their debut single -"Today Knows/Massachusetts"- plus two excellent albums: "Beverley Atonale" and the most recent "The Albermarle sound".

In our single club we bring you a seven inch with two songs from this American band: "Brighton bound" is a brand new track which works perfectly as an introduction to the sound of the band; gentle, smooth folk-pop, healthy as a country promenade. In fact THE LADYBUG TRANSISTOR have their headquarters in Marlborough Farms, a countryside Brooklyn section with tree-line roads, lakes and gardens. And this beautiful landscape makes its way through the band’s bucholic sound.

"Cienfuegos" is a new version of a track from "The Albermarle sound"; this new rendition features a beautiful piano intro, followed by a delightful instrumental piece with a Spanish scent, which brings to mind the most memorable passages of the inmortal "Forever Changes" signed by Californian legends LOVE.
