Biography

THE CLIENTELE were formed in London in the summer of 1997 from a love of Surrealism, GALAXIE 500, Kafka, THE BEATLES, FELT, THE LEFT BANKE, Joseph Cornell, THE BEACH BOYS and Arthur Lee’s LOVE.

They have made a super 8 film and released four 7" singles, three in the UK and one in Japan. The singles have been played on XFM and John Peel and other stations in Canada, France, Spain, Italy and Japan. They have been written about in the NME, Melody Maker, Record Collector and several Japanese, Spanish and French magazines. They have supported ARAB STRAP, VELOCETTE and BILLIE MAHONIE.

This is their fifth single, with two tracks exclusive for Elefant’s single club."I want you (more than ever)" is a delicate caress, melancholic velvet sounds which evoke THE HOLLIES’ tenderness and Nick Drake’s introspection. A simply perfect melody sliding over a soft mantle of strumming guitars. There are no strident elements in the whole thing, everything flows gently, enrapturing your senses.

"6 a.m. morningside" is even more fragile, pure cellophane. Another acoustic jewel, lazy and bittersweet, which will be surely appreciated by all the delicate followers of pop’s most transparent, evanescent moods.

THE CLIENTELE are destined to be one of the bands of the new decade.
