Biography

SUPERCUTE is the DIY project of John William Davies, a cheeky, provocative techno-pop master that has managed to win a big number of fans in UK thanks to the freshness of his frantic songs, and because of his megafunny lyrics. He has his own label, Sonic Art Union, though some of his latest releases have come out through bigger labels as Damaged Goods.

In 1996 he released his first record, under the aka of TEEN ANTHEMS. It had the beautiful title of “I hate OASIS and I hate THE BEATLES”; in case the message didn’t came out clear, he also printed t-shirts with the title of the single inscripted on it. A lot of people turned out to agree with him, as he managed to sell around 2000 t-shirts. And this was when the britpop craze was at its peak!!!

After some more songs in compilations John started to release records under his current moniker, SUPERCUTE. He’s released three cd-singles so far, always combining bouncy 80’s-like techno-pop with witty lyrics.

Elefant released a cd-single on early 2000 compiling some of his best songs, like “Welsh bands suck” -another shocking number- from the TEEN ANTHEMS era; or like “Notting Hill”, from SUPERCUTE’s latest cd-single so far.

Another excellent track is “Jamie Theakston” -ode to a famous Uk TV host- which is sung by a girl called Rachel. We’ve included two remixes of the song, made by two Spanish Elefant bands which are pretty close to John’s spirit: LA MONJA ENANA and LA CASA AZUL.

This cd-single also features a brand new, exclusive track: “Amor, pasión, rock and roll”. As its title promises, it has some bits sung in Spanish. And some samples taken from “En el rascacielos”, a song of one of the best albums released by Elefant: FAMILY’s “Un soplo en el corazón”.
