Printed Circuit

Though our label is mostly devoted to pop, we have never denied our penchant for electronic sounds. That’s proved by our sublabel Stereophonic Elefant Dance Recordings, home of Spain’s riskiest digital acts plus some very special foreign acts, aka RINOCEROSE or SCANNER. Even our singles club was affected by this delightful virus some months ago thanks to the always intriguing ISAN. And now we offer you another nice bit of electronics in the shape of a wonderfully coloured seven inch.
 

PRINTED CIRCUIT is the alter ego of Claire, a twenty-something Scottish woman who started giving shape to her electronic reveries on early 99, due to her devotion for names as inspiring as MOUSE ON MARS, KRAFTWERK, BOARDS OF CANADA or LES RHYTHMES DIGITALES.

Pretty soon a first PRINTED CIRCUIT reference saw the light. It was a CDR released through her own Catmobile label, containing her very first six songs. The CDR was very good received by the media, specially BBC Scotland, and was sold out very fast, revealing Claire had taken the right road and encouraging her to go on.

And here’s her single for Elefant Records single club. It’s full of endearing soundtracks for an imaginary videogame. Bubbling backgrounds, naïve melodies, innocent bleeps, all of them surrounded by a feeling which mixes krautrock and Studio 54’s Saturday night fever and takes shape in the splendid "Gimmie aibo" and "Solar for my format". Third track is "Systematik", one of the songs in PRINTED CIRCUIT’s CDR which is remixed here by French avant-beat scientists GNR.

Claire doesn't deliberately draw to her gender before the music gets a chance, she sees the fact that she's female and making electronic music as important and that it needs to be noticed, but she knows the potential danger of getting polarised. So rather than yell the obvious sexual/ political details PRINTED CIRCUIT would rather exhibit her musical skills and answer the questions separately.
