PIPIOLAS are getting us ready for the imminent release of their second album, and they’re doing so with one of their marvelous hits, the kind that fill us with their fresh and cheeky energy. “NaNaNa” is an exercise in synth-pop in the purest 80s style, with programmed basslines, dark and mysterious verses, and bright, ultra-catchy choruses. What's more, the slightly macabre tone of the lyrics makes their new success something like a cemetery paradox written for a bold, first-era Madonna.
