Biography

At the end of 1997, a very selective Spanish label called Acuarela released one of the most interesting, sensitive and subtle albums of the last years. The title was "Diciembre 3 am", and it was signed by a new band: MIGALA. This record received a well-deserved praising by all the Spanish specialized media, as it was a superb collection of home-made songs, halfway between LAMBCHOP´s quietness and Will Oldham´s disconsolation. By the way, some months later MIGALA played as Poor Cowboy Will´s backing band in his last Spanish tour.

A year has passed, and now MIGALA are considered one of the most brilliant Spanish new alternative acts, due to their albums for Acuarela. Some of them have been licenced to Subpop in USA. Now the band gives us two exclusive tracks for our beloved single club.

"Finnegans Late" is a country & western flavoured treat that really works thanks to Abel Hernández tired voice, murmuring sad and enigmatic vocals, while the musical background is enriched by some gentle touches of violin and harmonica.

"That Imaginary Mexico (Piedrita)" is another winter litany about relationships spoiled by the passing of time. It features the collaboration of Jesús Llorente (musical journalist, poet and owner of Acuarela Records) in the lyrics and Monica Vacas (from MUS, another hidden treasure from Acuarela) in the vocals.

This single seems to be conceived to be listened to in winter nights, preferably alone and with the lights turned off. Two tiny lumps in the throat for the lonely hearted.
