GYPSOPHILE is a pop band formed around Guillaume Bellhomme; the band’s first album was released by Elefant. Subsequent recordings saw the light through labels like Clover (Japan) or Radio Khartoum (USA).

GYPSOPHILE are a new example to add to that charming French tradition of bands who grew up listening to the singles on Cherry Red and Sarah Records, whose vision of pop consists in self-sufficient and radically independent creation.

As did LOONS in their debut, also on Elefant Records, GYPSOPHILE use beatboxes and acoustic guitars in short, naked songs, free of any unnecessary arrangement or repetition. Their melodies are fragile and delightful, joyous (“One Day”) or beautifully introspective (“No More”), ideal to be enjoyed live at some Parisian café.

This bedroom folk-pop, silent, acoustic and simple, as a lullaby whispered to your ear, finds its best example on a jazzy “And Over Every Day” (with a delicious Brazilian guitar) and on its smooth melody, recalling the best moments of MARTIN STEPHENSON AND THE DAINTEES. The counterpoint comes with the upbeat version of “L’Appareil A Sous”, the song written by French genius Serge Gainsbourg and known for the performing of the divine Brigitte Bardot. GYPSOPHILE recreate it from a new perspective, fresh and charming.
