Biography

COLOR FILTER is the musical project of a tiny Japanese genius -composer, bass and guitar player, programmer, engineer- called Ryuji Tsuneyoshi. Maybe this name is familiar to you, due to his contribution -"Let me sleep"- to the compilation "Casablanca", second volume of Elefant’s "Collection of the cities". COLOUR FILTER have released several singles in American and Japanese labels, plus a cd in American Fuzzybox label, called "Sleep in a synchrotron". CF songs can also be found in several international pop compilations.

Ryuji presents us now two brand new songs, exclusive for this single: a couple of small electronic cotton candy clouds, sweet and dreamy, featuring the collaboration of Ester Rina’s vocals, which enhance Ryuji’s electronic background with a fragile, shy charming mood. Noriaki Hirahara also collaborates by playing bass in the title track, "Sitting in the sand".

COLOUR FILTER’s music is deeply influenced by post-punk bands and trip-hop acts. It’s an elegant and simple mixture of classic and modern elements, in which you can find analogue synthesizers or tremolo guitars. We could file this music close to STEREOLAB, BROADCAST or even AIR, bands that also share a certain melancholic, dreamy quality, which in the case of COLOUR FILTER is stressed on Ester’s innocent, gentle vocals.

We should follow Ryuji/COLOR FILTER’s next steps with attention: these two tracks promise a musical career full of surprises and good taste.
