Ally Kerr

ALLY KERR is a young Scottish guy living in Glasgow, the place that has brought us some of the finest bands of the last years, such as BELLE AND SEBASTIAN, MOGWAI, TEENAGE FANCLUB or CAMERA OBSCURA, just to mention some.

Ally learnt to play guitar some few years ago, and these are his first songs. The first to be released in a record as well. Something you would never believe after listening to such perfectly crafted songs like "Without you" as they suggest a very experienced band behind. They sound so surprisingly mature, and on top of that they are really endearing and catchy thanks to their smooth, well-aimed melodies.

These three songs were recorded in Glasgow’s Riverside Studios; Ally was helped in the production tasks by his/our friend Duglas T. Stewart from THE BMX BANDITS; we also released a vinyl single in our club by this band, as well as the reissue of their classic "C-86 and more" first album.

The recording was engineered by Duncan Cameron, who has worked with such prestigious bands as TEENAGE FANCLUB, BMX BANDITS, TRAVIS, THE SUPERNATURALS or SUPERSTAR. Duncan also collaborates by playing bass in the songs. Ally has surrounded himself with a bunch of friends to accompany his vocals and guitar: apart from Duncan there’s Eelaine Wong supplying subtle female backing vocals; Dave McHugh plays guitar, Vin Farmahan in on drums and there are some cool e-bow effects courtesy of Gabriel Telerman.

These three songs predict a very thriving career for ALLY KERR. If you like classic guitar pop with beautiful melodies (say, CATCHERS, BYRDS, BELLE AND SEBASTIAN, early AZTEC CAMERA) just keep an eye on him!
