The result compiles much more than just 18 unreleased songs about Christmas: combine Souvenir’s stark-naked gentleness, Astrud’s crude vision, and the meticulous musings of Apenino, Parade or Ama. Or the festive atmosphere of La Casa Azul and La Monja Enana, as opposed to Nadadora and Mirafiori’s introspection. Or the vocal brilliance of Corazón, Color Caramelo de Ron and Underwater Tea Party contrasting with Uke, Raro & Apenino’s ethereal instrumentality. Montevideo, Aldo Linares and Humanoid contribute their delicate electronica while Polar’s buzzing and J’aime acoustic approach bring the record to a spectacular close.
