DEDICATESSEN Vol. 6
Limited Edition 500 copies in transparent red colour vinyl, including a download coupon of this album in digital format (MP3 - 320 kbps).
Aldo Linares y las mujeres is the sixth release in our coloured vinyl singles series DEDICATESSEN, and is no less than his solo debut, and his own tribute to women. These are four songs of bright electronic pop rooted in a subtle magic realism. The cover photo, the lyrical poetry of his words, even the slightest musical note, pays tribute to women as the axis of beauty, imagination, dreams and rhythm. It is like a series of small sighs, short pieces full of dreamlike melancholy, to move your legs, tongue and heart.
This old-fashioned EP (four songs in a 7" single) is like a stroll across sentimental moors full of optimism. It opens with “Confederados”, an anthem to trans-national love which travels to different cities of the planet with guest vocals by Linda Mirada and a suitcase full of souvenirs which sound like Etienne Daho, Elli & Jacno or O.M.D.. Second track on side A is “Oklahoma Baby”, the most upbeat on the record, about a vibrant girl from Oklahoma who finds herself at El Escorial, Spain. It is a song with echoes of Ricky Nelson or Saint Etienne, and a statement about his favourite styles, with a hint of a secret affair in his biography. Side B opens with “Temporada Estival” or the triumph of love, which he feels unreacheable but misses with a smile. Again, Linda Mirada collaborates on vocal duties, with words in the chorus that we can all relate to. Pet Shop Boys, Carlos Berlanga, Federico Moura, Barry White and Paddy McAloon all together? Of course! "Duermevela” offers a nice contrast - the magic of physical contact with her silhouette, and the best way to end such a brilliant debut. It is a song where pop music enters the night with eyes almost closed and open lips. It is a kiss which travels close to Brian Eno, Momus and the Cocteau Twins, a kiss which closes this first single by Aldo Linares, surely the beginning of a brilliant career, or, as he likes to say: “I trawl the megahertz. Let the night be propitious. So be it”.
