The Jabalina Love Songs collection has just got halfway through its way with the new release by Klaus&Kinski, in glorious translucent white vinyl, and featuring an inventive batch of new songs which maintains the spirit of the band's previous outings. It contains three unreleased new songs (two by band songwriter Alejandro Martínez and one cover version) which convey this band's multifaceted take on pop. For the occasion, Klaus&Kinski have chosen to perform love songs in a classic fashion, with elements of chamber music and connections with jazz and classical music - an innovative route for the band which makes this record even more special. This is Klaus&Kinski's first vinyl 7" single, and the three tracks have been produced and arranged by Alejandro Martínez. Marina's voice sounds more nuanced and naked than ever - other highlights are the strings played by Pilar Crespo (violin and viola) and of course Alex's trademark guitars and keyboards. These beautiful love songs go like this: On the one hand, two disturbing songs written by Alejandro Martínez ("Amor A" and "Amor B"), joined like two siamese twins on the same side (A), in which the mystery film string arrangements will keep the listener slightly uneasy in spite of Marina's calm vocals. The sobriety of the track titles might be surprising, but on "tralarí, tralará" the lyrics go back to trademark Klaus&Kinski, proving that there is no topic they cannot master. As they sing on "Amor A", 'metaphore or description, there is nothing like you...' On the B side we find the warmth and comfort of "Embraceable You", a jazz standard by IRA & GEORGE GERSHWIN previously performed by artists such as COLE PORTER, CHET BAKER or FRANK SINATRA. Two sides of the same coin.
