Biography

Here at the Elefant Single Club we still persist in our efforts to bring you the most exciting, interesting pop acts all over the world. Now it´s the turn of THE SECRET GOLDFISH, an English East Kilbride combo which includes within its ranks Katy Mc Cullars (ex-FIZZBOMBS singer) and Paul Turnbull who used to drum for the MCKENZIES. JohnMorose (guitar) and Steven McSeveney (bass) complete the formation.

THE SECRET GOLDFISH release their stuff in Creeping Bent, home of the hyperwonderful ADVENTURES IN STEREO (run to your nearest record shop and buy their debut album NOW!). Here you have two exclusive songs for our single club.

A-Side boasts a delicate version of "Somewhere in China", one of the most sensitive, precious songs by THE SHOP ASSISTANTS, the all-female-outfit which managed to release some singles and an utterly unforgettable eponymous album in the mid eighties. They never got all the success they deserved, so this is a good chance to put things right.

"X-Boyfriend", the flipside, is an original song by THE SECRET GOLDFISH, with some links with all the bands mentioned above; a refreshing, delicious candy that explains clearly why they have been played so insistently on John Peel´s show, who has also included them in the bill of his London Meltdown Arts Festival, alongside with JESUS AND MARY CHAIN, SONIC YOUTH or SUICIDE. They will also play at the Edinburgh Festival in August.

THE SECRET GOLDFISH brings us two more reasons to stay tuned to pop´s magic world, due to their catchy, timeless melodies, full of innocence and romanticism. So enjoy the single and have the nicest day possible!!!!
