Les Tr?s Bien Ensemble in the UK

imagen foto

Suzette's band toured Spain recently with that legend of indiepop that is the WOULD-BE-GOODS. Both bands shared the bill during three shows in Spain. Elefant and Fortuna Pop!, their respective record labels, took advantage of the tour to release an exclusive CD -"Que Viva Le Pop!"- featuring the best of both catalogues, which was given away to everyone who bought a ticket for the shows.

And now is the moment to return the visit and repeat the same joint action in the UK. WOULD-BE-GOODS and LES TRÈS BIEN ENSEMBLE will play together in late June in London, Nottingham and Oxford, and the tour line-up will be complete with the names of THE CUT-OUTS and THE CHEMISTRY EXPERIMENT. And, of course, with the ticket the crowd will receive their free copy of the "Que Viva Le Pop!" compilation.
These are not the only shows of LES TRÈS BIEN ENSEMBLE outside Spain though, because next May 13th they will perform at the Fairfield Café in Toulouse (France), supported by local band MOMOTTE.

LES TRÈS BIEN ENSEMBLE
A francophile, francophone, Barcelona-based band with a passion for the elegance and seduction of the best French pop, so much so that despite being Spanish all their songs are sung in French! Influences range from Michel Polnareff to Francoise Hardy, and of course the unbeatable Serge Gainsbourg and his cast of fragile and/or perverse female partners (France Gall, Jane Birkin, Brigitte Bardot). As if she were one of the muses idolized by her hero Gainsbourg, Suzette knows how to sing and perform sounding sexy, or childish, or both things at the same time. Their sound is rooted in the classic recordings of the 60s with exuberant orchestral arrangements, while their songwriting is inspired by nouvelle vague's soundtracks and the Brazilian bossanova, as exemplified by last year’s debut album on Elefant Records “Doux-Amer”.

THE WOULD-BE-GOODS
Eccentric and evocative guitar pop helmed by Jessica Griffin, enigmatic star of eighties cult label él, with her crew of elegant rascals - Peter Momtchiloff, guitarist (Talulah Gosh, Razorcuts, Heavenly, Scarlet's Well) and occasional songsmith; Debbie Green, drummer and darling of the London nineties garage scene (Thee Headcoatees); and ex-Adam and the Ant and Monochrome Set bassist Andy Warren. Their fourth album ‘The Morning After’, released last year on Fortuna POP!, was full of melancholy charm and wit coupled with a classic guitar pop sound ranging from new folk, tango to garage rock. Love songs to lions, frolics in the Garden of Eden, French Casanovas and personal demons await you. Let the Would-Be-Goods be your guides.

THE CUT-OUTS
The Cut-Outs feature members of Airport Girl, The Fat Tulips and The Lucksmiths and play garage rock for pop kids with short, daft guitar solos and an unerring ear for a tune (often their own). And with a member of London’s all girl 60s dance troupe The Actionettes on drums, there's always at least one band member on the beat.
