Jeffrey Borchardt is the guitar player in fantastic American band VELVET CRUSH, but it’s already known by everybody that in his free moments, faithful to the tradition of this trio (with side-projects as THE CHOO CHOO TRAIN, THE SPRINGFIELDS, BAG-O-SHELLS, Matthew Sweet’s backing band...), he works on a delicious side band dedicated to the most sincere, moving pop, called HONEYBUNCH.

Jeffrey’s sweetest voice (who sometimes is backed on live acts by Claudia Gonson from THE MAGNETIC FIELDS and FUTURE BIBLE HEROES) is an irresistible hook for songs which range from joviality to melancholy, with limpid guitars, uplifting keyboards and unforgettable melodies.

On “Time Trials” we find an utterly complete revision to the band’s whole career, featuring all the songs they recorded between 1987 y 1995; a charming repertoire distributed in precious vinyl singles released by some of the most prestiged American independent labels: Bus Stop, Slumberland, Summershine, Four Letter Words and K Records (on their International Pop Underground series) were the fortunate labels which sheltered these songs in the first place.

The songs featured in this compilation follow a chronological order, beginning with “Hey Blue Sky”, side A on their first single, released by the spring of 1989. Nevertheless, we can also find six unreleased tracks, not available when this album first came out, which confirm VELVET CRUSH’s guitarist ability to create beautiful melodies and eternal feelings in the space of a few minutes.
