I sing the body electric
You cut the meat from the bone
I peeled back layers of static

You bring me scraps from the table
I was once an engineer
You regard me with a steady gaze
I don't know why I come here

 

You take the scraps so grateful
I am now the engineer
Avert your eyes while I sleep so fitful
Feel my hand, feel your fear

 

I wring my hands with the feeling
You are sleeping like a dog
I keep watch while you are resting
