If I try to take a step inside

All confidence just repairs

Too many turned down invitations

Not enough strength to project

Married to my imagination

Always lost outside it

Unnerved by crowds and occasions

I do my best to hide it

I have to try so hard to keep from running

I’m the only one who hears the screaming

A life of dreams

A life of fiction

Almost a ghost

I’ll always travel in the other direction

I’m good at being alone

Everything’s always seemed

More than a little apart from me

You could say I’m barely there

Outside looking elsewhere

Feeling like none of this

Is remotely real

Feeling like I could turn

And walk right out of this world
